Mystify – A Musical Journey With Michael Hutchence

Petrol  Records have announced the imminent arrival of a major new feature-length documentary film Mystify – A Musical Journey With Michael Hutchence, which is set to honour the troubled heart and soul of the late Michael Hutchence, the globally acclaimed lead singer of INXS, who died in 1997.  Michael Hutchence was the lead singer of the legendary rock band INXS until his untimely death in 1997. Directed by filmmaker Richard Lowenstein who collaborated extensively with the band throughout their career; directing eighteen INXS videos as well as three for Hutchence solo projects and his acting debut in Dogs In Space,

examines Hutchence’s deeply felt life through his many loves and demons. With Kylie Minogue, Helena Christensen & Paula Yates.

 A single screening at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York made headlines around the world. Screen Daily has lauded the film as showing that Hutchence “Belongs in the same company as Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, and Robert Plant”, and that the film “is a more than worthy tribute.”

Accompanying the film is the ‘Mystify – A Musical Journey With Michael Hutchence’ Soundtrack Album featuring rare tracks, deep cuts and huge hits by INXS and their much-missed frontman.  The soundtrack album for the critically-acclaimed documentary Mystify – A Musical Journey With Michael Hutchence is set for release through Petrol Records on July 5th and will be available in a variety of formats including CD, double-disc vinyl, cassette and through digital formats.

The first single from the soundtrack, which is out now, is a solo recording of Michael Hutchence covering Eric Burdon & War’s funk/soul hit ‘Spill The Wine’, recently unearthed & remastered at Abbey Road Studios, London. You can check the track out below.
